I’m Nekaya Carter, a seasoned real estate broker, nonprofit leader, and passionate advocate for women’s empowerment. With over 18 years of experience in the real estate industry, I founded Carter and Carter, Inc., a successful real estate and mortgage brokerage, as well as 2.18 Vision, a nonprofit dedicated to grief support and elevating women.
I proudly graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, where I earned both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s in Sport Management. My journey began in the sports industry, working with the Los Angeles Clippers. This background, combined with my expertise in real estate, shapes my approach to business—always focused on strategy, teamwork, and empowerment.
In addition to leading my businesses, I serve as the President of the Long Beach Realtist Association, where I play an instrumental role in promoting black homeownership, diversity, and community development. My work is deeply rooted in educating, elevating, and empowering individuals, especially women, to reach their personal and professional goals. Whether I’m helping clients navigate their first duplex purchase or providing support through 2.18 Vision’s programs, I bring a wealth of experience, leadership, and heart to everything I do.

We put a focus on Duplex homeownership, as it’s a great strategy for first-time homebuyers. Duplex homeownership allows you to purchase a property with two separate units—one that you live in and the other that can be rented out for additional income. It’s a strategy that makes homeownership more accessible and provides long-term financial stability, which is exactly what Carter & Carter’s goals are for our clients. Our organization is dedicated to uplifting those who have faced profound loss, particularly women mourning the passing of their fathers. We understand the unique challenges that come with grief, so we provide a safe space where women can share their experiences and find strength in each other. We’re also proud to offer a mentorship program that guides women in their professional journeys and supports them financially with sponsorship for real estate licensing and memberships in professional trade organizations.
Through our quarterly events under the Women Elevating Women initiative, we focus on self-care, personal growth, and empowerment, fostering a culture where every woman feels valued and empowered to embrace her transformation. Together, we are creating a community that celebrates resilience and inspires each other to pursue our dreams.
Women Elevating Women Through Knowledge and Community
At Women Elevating Women, we come together to educate and uplift fellow women in our community on topics like investing, homeownership, co-parenting, and survivorship. We believe that empowerment is achieved through knowledge and support, and we thrive on creating an environment where women can share their experiences and grow together. Our events host local women and families, showcasing more than 50 vendors and featuring 100 inspiring speakers, all while welcoming over 500 attendees who are eager to connect. By focusing on meaningful discussions, we pave the way for women to transform their lives - proving that when we elevate one another, we all rise together.
